african drumming community

Drummergirl offer drumming programs to people of all ages and abilities. We believe that the joy and healing that can be accessed through hand drumming can be experienced by all despite any physical, psychological or cultural differences.

Hand drumming has many benefits and for more information visit out health benefits page.

‘A big thank you from the gang at Melbourne City Mission Sibling Program for a fabulous African Drumming Session. The kids had lots of fun on those drums, took some great shots and the session also inspired some to get their own set of drums. It was a large group and you handled them brilliantly, bringing out their musical talents. Even we adults enjoyed it heaps.’ (Melbourne City Mission Sibling Program)

We facilitate drumming workshops and interactive performances for participants and audiences within many areas of our community including:

  • the physical (disabilities) and mental health sector
  • refugee and asylum seekers, particularly with children in detention and those within the community
  • drug and alcohol recovery
  • aged care
  • employees working with the above groups.

We aim to be accessible and therefore are flexible with our workshop fees for community groups and not-for-profit organisations. Each year we also do a small number of workshops and performances pro- rata in service to the community.
