Drummergirl specialise in the sale of high quality djembes. The drum shells are imported from West Africa and assembled locally. The skins used on all our drums are top-quality Australian feral goat skins.

We offer two main styles of djembe:
full-size beginner/general djembe
Drum head diameter: approx. 11-12 inch

Description: Full-size djembes suited to the beginner-intermediate level player. A great drum to kick-start your love of the djembe! Solidly constructed yet relatively light weight, these drums won't let you down. Natural and stained shell varieties available.
Guinean master djembes
Drum head diameter: 12-13+ inches
Price: $500 - 650
These are all you could ever hope for in a djembe. Beautiful, solid, and perfectly carved, these full sized djembes will have you cracking out solos in no time! If you want to go straight to the top with your djembe purchase, then this is the drum for you.
djembe hats
Standard sizes: small & large (also made to order)
Price: $30 - $50
Description: Drum hats are waterproof (vinyl), padded and can either be used on their own or in conjunction with a bag for extra protection. Made in Australia. Colours & styles vary.

drum building: make your own djembe! Saturday 1st October from 11am

Building your own drum is an intensely satisfying process. You may not even be a drummer but just be excited by creating your very own djembe from start to finish. The process involves oiling the wooden shell, wrapping the rings, roping up the drum, skinning and tightening/tuning. Prices start from $350.
The session will be held in our workshop in Woodend (Newham) - address supplied on booking.

djembe re-skinning & tuning
Drummergirl also offer a comprehensive drum mechanical service, ranging from a standard drum tune to a full re-skin/re-rope and overhaul. We use top quality goat skins supplied by Melbourne Djembe.
