afö

Afö (Malinke for 'Speak') is a traditionally based West African drumming ensemble performing high energy rhythms from the region of Guinea in West Africa. The group draws on the traditional music of the Malinke people and in particular rhythms taught by the highly renowned exponent of the tradition, Mamady Keita. Afö captures the essence of this undeniably powerful and engaging traditional music and present an explosive and mesmerising performance.

In 2008 the ensemble was awarded an Arts Victoria grant to record their debut EP 'Speak'. Listen on myspace or contact us to order your copy.

drummergirl ensemble

The Drummergirl Ensemble presents traditional West African music for any corporate, community, private event or celebration.

Performances vary from gentle traditional pieces with stringed instruments (kora) and balafon (traditional West Africian xylophone) to a showcase of up to ten drummers and dancers.
