African Drum Making Workshops & Djembe Repairs
Djembe Drum Making Classes
Building your own drum is an intensely satisfying experience. The process involves sanding and oiling the wooden shell, followed by wrapping the rings, roping up the drum, then skinning and tightening/tuning. The initial session takes around 3-5hrs, with a follow up 1hr session once the skins dries (approx. 1-2 weeks).
These sessions are held in our workshop in Newham (near Woodend), or at your venue of choice. The cost is the same as if you were to buy the drum off the shelf and we have a range of shells on offer from different parts of West Africa on offer.
